Starting May 1, hybrid car owners in Bucharest will no longer benefit from free parking in public parking lots managed by the municipality. This decision, adopted by the General Council of Bucharest at the beginning of April, marks a change in the policy of promoting sustainable urban mobility. Free parking will only be offered to 100% electric vehicles registered in Bucharest, with the condition of being registered in the parking operator's database.

The measure was temporarily introduced to encourage the transition to less polluting transport, but the number of hybrid cars has rapidly increased, exceeding the available parking spaces. Additionally, from the same date, journalists will no longer benefit from free access to cultural institutions subordinate to the municipality nor from free use of public parking.
