On Thursday morning, border police in Calafat, in collaboration with Bulgarian authorities, stopped a truck registered in Bulgaria that was traveling on the Bulgaria-Poland route. The vehicle, driven by a Bulgarian citizen, was transporting chipboard sheets, according to the accompanying documents. During the inspection, 38 individuals of Afro-Asian origin were discovered hidden in the semi-trailer. These included 29 Iraqi citizens, 5 Iranians, 2 Syrians, one Turk, and one Sudanese. Following the detection, additional forces were mobilized to manage the situation. According to the cooperation plan between the Romanian and Bulgarian Border Police, the migrants and the driver were handed over to the Bulgarian authorities for further investigation.
