Romanian border police have detained two Turkish citizens who were trying to enter Romania illegally, with the intention of reaching Spain.

On August 20, border police from Romania collaborated with authorities from the Republic of Moldova to detect two Turkish citizens, aged 25 and 47, who were attempting to enter the country illegally. The action was the result of an operational exchange of data and information. The two men were apprehended by the crew of the Botoșani Territorial Border Police and taken to the sector's headquarters for investigation.

They stated that they intended to reach Spain to find a job. The police continue investigations to establish the circumstances of the illegal border crossing. Under the Readmission Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Moldova, the two were taken over by Moldovan authorities. This action highlights the importance of cross-border collaboration in managing common challenges and strengthens the partnership between law enforcement agencies in the two countries.
