The Border Police discovered 15 migrants hidden in a truck that officially transports water and towels.

The border police at Calafat conducted a check on a truck registered in Romania, driven by a Turkish citizen, which was traveling on the Turkey-Austria route.

Although the truck carrying water and towels was sealed, detailed checks revealed that access to the cargo compartment could be achieved by removing the screws from the semi-trailer doors, without affecting the integrity of the customs seal. Following the unsealing, 15 male individuals, citizens of Iran and Iraq, were discovered hidden inside the semi-trailer, attempting to illegally enter the territory of the European Union.

They were handed over to the authorities in Bulgaria for further checks and legal measures. The Turkish citizen at the wheel is being investigated for human trafficking.
