The Oradea Court has sentenced a breeder of Central Asian Shepherd Sheepdogs for cutting off the ears of six chickens, an illegal intervention under the Animal Welfare Act. Although he initially denied the crime, the man later admitted that he had carried out the procedure out of respect for the "tradition of the breed". The police discovered the chickens with their ears cut off following a search, and medical examinations confirmed that the surgery was recent. The man was prosecuted for non-curative surgery on animals.
