George Enescu International Airport 'George Enescu' Bacău has announced that it has applied for funding for a major renewable energy project, making it the first airport in Romania to do so. The project, worth RON 24.4 million, involves the construction of a 1.25 MW photovoltaic power plant and a 2.064 MWh storage system, which will ensure the airport's own energy consumption. Estimates indicate an annual production of 1,605,648 MWh and a reduction of CO2 emissions by almost 983 tons per year, thus contributing to the transition to a green airport.
