Andrei Gușă, AUR deputy, emphasizes the importance of cash as a symbol of economic autonomy and private life. He warns about the trends in the EU to restrict the use of cash under pretenses such as combating tax evasion and digitizing the economy. Gușă believes that these initiatives raise legitimate questions about the state's intervention in the economic life of citizens and their freedoms. Inspired by the recent referendum in Switzerland, where 73% of citizens voted to protect the use of cash, Gușă proposes organizing a national referendum in Romania to guarantee this right. He states that decisions related to economic freedoms should not be dictated by bureaucracies, but should be left to the will of the people.
