AUR announces it will vote alongside PNL and USR to eliminate online voting in the Chamber of Deputies

The Alliance for the Union of Romanians (AUR) announces that it is prepared to vote alongside PNL and USR to eliminate online voting in the Chamber of Deputies. The party is calling for deputies to return to attending parliamentary proceedings in person and casting their votes in plenary.

The position was conveyed on Tuesday, September 8, in a press release. AUR argues that remote voting was introduced during the pandemic as an exceptional measure, but continued to be used after the situation that justified it had ended.

The party says it repeatedly called over the past four years for online voting to be abandoned and maintains that its position was not influenced by the composition of Parliament or short-term political advantages.

“We will vote alongside anyone for justice. Eliminate tablet voting in the Chamber of Deputies and return parliamentary voting to where it belongs: the plenary chamber,” said AUR parliamentary group leader Mihai Enache.

The party believes that parliamentary activity must return to normal, with face-to-face debates and publicly accountable votes. AUR called on all parliamentary groups that support a return to physical voting to turn their statements into legislative action。,
