AUR Deputy Tiberiu Boșutar, elected in Bistrița-Năsăud, has been sent to trial for public incitement, according to the announcement from the Prosecutor's Office next to the High Court of Cassation and Justice. The events took place on December 7, 2024, when Boșutar stated, in a live statement on Facebook, that "we should blow up these buildings," thus inciting the public to commit acts of violence.
During the broadcast, which was viewed by 84,800 people, he incited the provocation of violent riots and the arson of public institution buildings, against the backdrop of the annulment of the presidential elections. Prosecutors emphasized that the incitement affected public order and that the right to free expression is not absolute, as it can be restricted to prevent crimes. The indictment has been sent to the High Court of Cassation and Justice, the competent court to judge the case. At the time of the commission of the acts, Boșutar had not yet acquired the status of deputy.
