The National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) has issued a warning to animal breeders, transporters, local authorities, and pet owners in the context of the high temperatures forecasted.

ANSVSA emphasizes the importance of adhering to the necessary measures to protect the health and welfare of animals, as well as to prevent heat stress. Farmers are required to provide adequate shelters to protect animals from sunlight, to offer sufficient quantities of drinking water and feed, and to constantly check the operation of watering, feeding, and ventilation systems.

Additionally, animals used for traction or other heavy-duty activities should not be exploited between 12:00 PM and 6:00 PM, when the temperature exceeds 25°C. These measures are essential to prevent the suffering of animals in heatwave conditions.
