In the third quarter of 2025, the National Sanitary Veterinary and Food Safety Authority (ANSVSA) conducted a national control campaign, applying total fines of 35.1 million lei. Inspectors carried out 136,206 checks on operators in the food industry, targeting both animal and non-animal products, including meat, milk, fish, and bakery products. A total of 3,885 contraventional sanctions were issued, 194 suspension orders, and 356 activity prohibitions. Additionally, 98,125 kg of non-compliant food were seized, and 18,698 samples were analyzed, of which 186 were non-compliant. The president of ANSVSA, Alexandru Bociu, emphasized the institution's commitment to protecting public health through strict enforcement of the law and maintaining a high level of food safety. The identified non-compliances include hygiene issues, lack of HACCP documentation, and inadequate equipment. Consumers can contact ANSVSA for complaints at the number 0800.826.787.
