The National Authority for Consumer Protection (ANPC) warns about the risks of foodborne illnesses caused by excessive heat, urging consumers to exercise increased caution when purchasing, transporting, and storing food products.
ANPC emphasizes the importance of avoiding the purchase of water and beverages exposed to sunlight or high temperatures, as well as checking the integrity of the packaging and the expiration date. Meat should be purchased from establishments that maintain the cold chain, and chocolate should be chosen from cool spaces. Fruits and vegetables should be fresh and free from damage, and perishable products should be transported in insulated containers.
ANPC recommends purchasing food only from authorized establishments and keeping the receipt for potential complaints. Additionally, the importance of reducing the time between purchase and storage is highlighted, especially for vulnerable individuals.
