Ioana Dogioiu, the former spokesperson for the Bolojan Government, accuses ANCOM Vice President Pavel Popescu of requesting 860,000 lei in public funds for an event with 1,000 guests, an artistic program, and protocol gifts, intended to promote Romania’s candidacy for the Council of the International Telecommunication Union, News.ro reports. According to her, Ilie Bolojan withdrew the proposal from the agenda of the last government meeting.
Dogioiu also rejects Popescu’s claim that funds for the Francophonie Summit were approved at the same meeting, stating that the allocation was adopted on September 11 and concerned Romania’s pavilion. For his part, Popescu accuses the former prime minister of sabotaging diplomatic efforts for Romania’s candidacy to the ITU.
