<p>The National Authority for Administration and Regulation in Communications (ANCOM) has asked mobile operators to block "spoofing" calls, which use false identities to deceive consumers. Over 60% of Romanians have been victims of such fraud attempts. ANCOM is giving operators 30 days to implement the measure, which mainly targets calls from abroad on fixed numbers. Although there is a risk of blocking legitimate calls, ANCOM estimates that these are rare.
