ANAF has started procedures to recover the damages of almost 9.2 million lei established by the 2018 judgment in the Gala Bute case, in which Elena Udrea was convicted. Although the procedure was initially suspended for four years, it was recently resumed, resulting in the recovery of 5.2 million lei. However, difficulties in recovering the seized assets persist due to a lack of bidders at the auctions. Udrea was released on parole in July 2023.
