The National Agency for Fiscal Administration (ANAF) has announced that it will soon start a series of tax audits targeting over 500 large taxpayers from various economic sectors. These audits will be conducted by the territorial tax inspection structures, having delegated authority from the General Directorate for the Administration of Large Taxpayers. The purpose of these actions is to verify compliance with tax and accounting legislation, to assess the accuracy of declared and paid obligations to the consolidated general budget, as well as to identify risks of tax non-compliance.
The selection of taxpayers for audits is based on detailed fiscal risk analyses conducted by ANAF, using information from internal databases. ANAF emphasizes that the intensification of audits is part of the strategy to increase tax compliance, guiding taxpayers to correctly apply tax legislation.
