ANAF initiates checks in gas stations following the new price increases

ANAF has started a series of nationwide controls to prevent and combat tax non-compliance practices in light of the recent increases in fuel prices. The controls target the entire distribution chain, from importers to retailers, to identify operators who might create tax advantages by artificially inflating costs. Inspectors are checking suspicions of tax fraud and speculative practices that may affect market fairness. Recent price increases have pushed premium diesel over 10 lei/l, while standard diesel has increased by 1.14 lei/l. Authorities explain these increases by the international context, especially the conflict in the Middle East. The Competition Council found no evidence of collusion between companies, and President Nicușor Dan announced that the Government will implement measures to address this situation.
