An Airbus A321neo operated by Pegasus Airlines, flying from St. Petersburg to Istanbul, issued a distress signal approximately two hours after takeoff and was forced to make an emergency landing in Bucharest. The aircraft, which reportedly had over 200 passengers on board, landed safely, according to information that appeared in Russian and Ukrainian press.

The A321neo model, considered relatively new and in service for about 5.5 years, is part of Pegasus Airlines' fleet modernization strategy. The aircraft is configured with up to 239 seats and is equipped with modern, more efficient, and quieter engines, contributing to reduced fuel consumption and emissions. The company already operates dozens of such aircraft and intends to significantly expand its fleet by 2029.
