An Italian subsidiary of Amazon has reached an agreement with tax authorities, paying approximately 180 million euros to close an investigation related to tax fraud and labor law violations. In July 2024, the company was accused of evading tax laws by using cooperatives and limited liability companies to provide workers, thus avoiding VAT payments and reducing social contributions. Prosecutors in Milan seized 121 million euros in this context. Amazon stated that it has clarified its position with the authorities and that its standards for collaboration with delivery partners have been recognized. This agreement joins over 30 other companies that have reached similar agreements in the last two years, contributing to the collection of over 1 billion euros in such cases. The Milan prosecutor's office has also investigated other large companies for hiring practices.
