CFR Călători has announced that it has sent the only electric train in circulation, model IR 16087, to the manufacturer, Alstom, due to a malfunction in the air conditioning. Although the train has been modernized with PNRR funds, the problem is not related to the modernized carriages but to the electric frame. The train also had technical problems shortly after entering service and out of the 37 trains ordered, only two have arrived in Romania so far.
