Alexandru Bălan has taken over the position of president of the Romanian Customs Authority, replacing Marcel Simion Mutescu, with the aim of strengthening the role of the institution in combating tax evasion and facilitating legitimate trade. Bălan brings extensive experience in customs legislation, and the new vice president, Mihai Savin, will contribute to institutional transformation. The changes come in the context of modernizing the customs administration and implementing European reforms, with the objectives of strengthening the authority of the institution and protecting the state budget.
