The Department for Emergency Situations (DSU) has announced the postponement of the public alarm exercise 'Alarm Wednesday' both in Bucharest and across the country. The decision was made following an internal evaluation that highlighted the need to strengthen public communication to ensure a correct understanding of the exercise's purpose by the population.
DSU emphasizes that, although the exercise is postponed, the periodic testing of the national public alarm system remains essential. Technical verification and maintenance of the sirens are institutional obligations, and dysfunctions in real situations can have serious consequences. The postponement is an adaptive measure, not a cancellation of the exercise, and DSU will announce a new schedule for its conduct, along with additional public information measures.
