The interim Minister of Transport, Radu Miruță, discussed the issues related to air conditioning in trains, explaining that in 15% of cases, the culprits are the old diesel locomotives, which cannot maintain an adequate level of cooling. Additionally, 40% of situations are caused by the overheating of the system, and nearly 20% of cases are due to trains passing through neutral electric zones.
Miruță emphasized that air conditioning is mandatory for InterRegio trains, but not for Regio ones, and out of the 1181 checked cases, 600 reported problems. He mentioned that measures have been taken to modify the software on 130 carriages and proposed rearranging the trains on hot days. Furthermore, 56 disciplinary investigation files have been opened for CFR Călători employees, resulting in sanctions for 39 of them.
