Eleven people have been detained, including actor Vlad Marinescu, and four placed under judicial control, after the searches that took place in Bucharest and in the counties of Constanța, Ilfov, and Ialomița, targeting members of a group that, for almost six years, allegedly recruited young women by promising them contracts as dancers in the club "The Buddhist" in the capital, but they were forced into prostitution.
They are being investigated for forming an organized criminal group, human trafficking, pimping, and money laundering.
Additionally, four individuals have been placed under judicial control.
We remind that police officers and prosecutors from DIICOT conducted, on Thursday, searches in Bucharest and in the counties of Constanța, Ilfov, and Ialomița, targeting members of a group that, for almost six years, allegedly recruited young women with poor education, without material means, and some with psychological disorders, promising them contracts as dancers in the club "The Buddhist" in Sector 5 of the Capital.
In reality, the girls were forced into prostitution and were imposed a specific number of clients, being subjected to psychological pressures to meet their targets. In this way, the members of the group allegedly obtained material benefits of over 19.5 million lei, the money being "laundered" by transferring it into the account of a foundation.
Following the searches, DIICOT confiscated approximately 525,000 lei, 40,000 euros, jewelry, 8 cars, and 1 kilogram of cocaine.
