An accountant, B.A., who worked for two public schools in Sector 5 of Bucharest, is accused by prosecutors of illegally embezzling 1,200,000 lei from the funds of the two educational institutions between 2019-2025. Investigators conducted three home searches on Thursday as part of Operation Jupiter, which aims to dismantle networks of economic and financial crimes. According to the Prosecutor's Office near the Sector 5 Court, the accountant made 219 unjustified bank transfers, embezzling 1,000,000 lei from one school and 24 transfers totaling 200,000 lei from another unit. The operation continues, with over 300 search warrants in progress, and the total estimated damage in the cases being investigated exceeds 220 million lei.
