Three people died, while two others were injured in an accident on the DEx12

Three people died and two others were injured on Friday, September 4, 2026, in an accident on the Craiova–Pitești Expressway, near the town of Priseaca, Olt County. The accident occurred at kilometer 65 and involved a van and a tractor-trailer with a trailer.

According to the INFOTRAFIC Center of the Romanian Police, traffic is completely blocked in the Pitești–Craiova direction, between the Negreni and Valea Mare–Slatina interchanges. Emergency crews and authorities are responding at the scene to provide medical care, investigate the accident and clear the roadway. Traffic was expected to resume after 6:00 p.m.

The Craiova Regional Directorate for Roads and Bridges (DRDP Craiova) said that the tractor-trailer had previously suffered a tire blowout. The driver passed the parking area at kilometer 67 and continued for approximately one kilometer, then stopped on the shoulder, partially occupying the first lane. A technical team from CIC Negreni was heading to the scene to carry out repairs and install warning signals, but initially stopped to remove tire debris from the roadway. The accident occurred before the tractor-trailer had been fully marked off. Traffic remains restricted until the intervention is completed.
