The incident took place in the locality of Războieni, where a 42-year-old woman called the emergency number, claiming that she had been attacked. After the call, she turned off her phone, which prompted a quick response from the police, who located her in Davideni. At the scene, authorities found that the woman had not been the victim of any crime or domestic violence, explaining that she wanted to make a joke. In the first ten months of the year, the police in Neamț received 13,912 calls, of which 687 were abusive and 1,030 were false. Cases of false calls are not isolated, as a young man from Galați was fined for a false call about an accident, and three women from Călărași called 112 after getting drunk, causing problems.
