A 38-year-old man from Bucharest was caught by the police after crossing an intersection on a red traffic light on June 1, 2026. In an attempt to avoid penalties, he initially offered the police officer the sum of 1,000 lei, and later increased the "stake" to 2,000 euros, wanting to avoid being checked for having his driving license suspended.

The police officer refused the bribe, and the man ended up with a criminal case for bribery. Prosecutors from the Bucharest Tribunal's Prosecutor's Office opened a criminal action, and the driver was placed under judicial control for 60 days. The investigation continues in collaboration with the Bucharest Economic-Financial Crime Investigation Brigade.
