The Romanian Waters informed that on the Rebra River, in Bistrița-Năsăud County, an ice jam of approximately 500 meters has formed, which is moving downstream and will reach the Dej area, Cluj County, during the day on Tuesday. Additionally, on the Someșul Mare River, upstream of the Mica dam, a 10 km long ice bridge has formed. Specialists from the Romanian Waters have notified local authorities and requested maneuvers for the removal of the ice.
The level of the Someșul Mare has risen by 60 cm, and the wave has diminished downstream. Hydrologists have updated the forecast, issuing an orange code for the risk of rapid floods and local flooding for the counties of Maramureș, Gorj, Mehedinți, and Dolj, as well as a yellow code for other counties. Significant runoff is expected on the slopes and possible effects of local flooding. The population is advised to avoid the riverbanks and to follow the authorities' instructions.
