A seismic event with a magnitude of 4.5 was recorded in Vrancea County on February 26, being the most significant earthquake of this year. The earthquake occurred at a depth of 134.1 km, affecting nearby areas, including the towns of Buzău (50 km south), Ploiești (60 km northeast), Brașov (62 km east), Sfântu-Gheorghe (64 km southeast), Focșani (71 km south) and Târgoviște (90 km northeast). Since the beginning of May, Romania has recorded three earthquakes with magnitudes between 2.4 and 3.1 degrees, highlighting the seismic activity in the region.
