Environmental commissioners in Prahova have fined refineries near Ploiești 300,000 lei after monitoring showed that hydrogen sulphide concentrations were exceeding the limits. The Environment Guard informed the Public Health Department to assess the impact on the population's health. The checks were triggered by citizens' complaints about odor nuisance and air quality, and most problems were identified in the area of a Rompetrol refinery.
