DIICOT announced the indictment of 17 members of the Pian clan, active in Bucharest and Ilfov, for serious crimes such as forming an organized criminal group, human trafficking, pimping, and money laundering.

Between 2022 and July 2025, the defendants sexually exploited young women recruited through the 'loverboy' method, transporting them to various European countries. The victims were subjected to psychological and physical coercion to engage in prostitution. The Pian clan created complex mechanisms to launder the money obtained from the exploitation of the victims, leading an extravagant lifestyle.

The activities of the criminals were dismantled in July 2025, following a DIICOT operation, where large sums of money, weapons, and luxury goods were confiscated. The case has been forwarded to the Bucharest Tribunal, where the confiscation of assets worth over 130,000 euros is also requested.
