DIICOT and the Bucharest Organized Crime Brigade have dismantled the activities of a group suspected of trafficking high-risk drugs, particularly heroin, in Bucharest’s Sector 5. Twelve people—nine men and three women, aged between 32 and 57—are under investigation for ongoing drug trafficking. Four of them are also accused of forming an organized criminal group.
According to investigators, the group had allegedly been operating since the beginning of 2026, using several satellite cells and distribution points. Its members allegedly sold heroin both wholesale, to other dealers, and in individual doses. The group was allegedly organized along family lines and coordinated mainly by a 57-year-old woman, suspected of procuring the drugs and supervising the sellers’ activities.
As part of the operation, 34 searches were conducted. Police officers and prosecutors seized 972 doses of heroin, approximately 300 grams of unportioned heroin, 111 methadone tablets, other substances undergoing examination, approximately 550 syringes, four pellet guns, and around 20,000 lei.
Prosecutors ordered the suspects’ detention, and the Bucharest Tribunal was notified with a request for 30-day pretrial detention.
