Alexandru Rogobete, Minister of Health, declared that Romania will benefit from 120 million euro of European funds for the development of specialized outpatient clinics, through the Health Operational Program. The aim is to reduce the burden of long journeys and unnecessary hospitalizations, giving patients quick access to diagnosis and treatment close to home. Among the legislative reforms are the extension of outpatient clinic opening hours until 8pm and the abolition of the referral note for chronic patients. Also, 69 outpatient clinics have already been modernized with a budget of more than 1 billion lei.
