The Superior Council of the Magistracy (SCM) has rejected Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan's proposal to amend the legislation on magistrates' pensions, emphasizing that the initiative goes beyond the legal framework of legislation in the judiciary. The PM suggested raising the retirement age to 65 and changing the pension percentage from 80% of gross salary to 70% of net salary. The SJC said that it could not give an opinion on a procedure deemed unlawful and that the Prime Minister was not competent to initiate such steps.
