The Super Chess Classic took place in Bucharest, from May 14-23. In his debut as a full-tour player on the circuit, Vincent Keymer won the second stage of the Grand Chess Tour and secured a check worth $131,250, offered by the Super Foundation.
Everything was decided in the last round, when Keymer defeated Jorden van Foreest, while Caruana drew in his game against Maxime Vachier-Lagrave.
The Super Chess Classic 2026, in Bucharest, was the 2nd stage of the Grand Chess Tour, the first classical chess event, following the one held in Poland, Super Rapid & Blitz Warsaw. The Grand Chess Tour, led by the legendary Garry Kasparov, will move to Croatia for the 3rd stage, Super Rapid & Blitz Zagreb. All 3 stages in Europe are sponsored by the Super Foundation.
