Max Verstappen is going through a difficult period in his career, finishing 9th in the Japanese Grand Prix and remaining in the same position in the overall standings, being surpassed by drivers like Oliver Bearman and Pierre Gasly. With only 12 points accumulated in the first three races of 2026, Verstappen stated that he is frustrated by his inability to overtake opponents on the track, even when he is behind them.
According to the publication Telegraaf, the Dutchman is considering a split from RedBull Racing at the end of the season, two years before his contract expires. Despite these speculations, the team director, Laurent Mekies, emphasized that they are focusing on the competitive aspect and hope that Verstappen will be more satisfied once the team provides him with a faster car.
