Universitatea Craiova brings points to Romania in the UEFA rankings

Universitatea Craiova is the only Romanian team still earning points in the UEFA coefficient rankings after beating Egnatia 2–0 in the third round of the Conference League’s single-league phase. The victory for Filipe Coelho’s side added 0.5 points to Romania’s coefficient and extended the gap over Ukraine.

The Oltenia side’s goals were scored by Cicâldău and Bancu. The victory brought two points in the match ranking, shared among the four Romanian teams initially entered in European competitions. FCSB, Universitatea Cluj and CFR Cluj were eliminated in the qualifying rounds and can no longer contribute to the coefficient.

Romania is 22nd, with 26.125 points, behind Scotland, which has 26.850 points. Behind Romania are Ukraine, Azerbaijan and Israel, each with one team remaining in the competitions but without any points earned this week.

Romania will remain in 22nd place regardless of the result of the Brighton–Universitatea Craiova match, scheduled for November 26 in England. To move up, Romania must make up the 0.725-point gap to Scotland, which still has two representatives: Celtic and Heart of Midlothian.
