The management of the 24-hour race at Nürburgring halted the competition after a serious incident involving seven drivers. Emergency services responded quickly, but they were unable to save Juha Miettinen, who died at the medical center after all resuscitation attempts failed.
The organizers stated that the other six drivers involved were taken to hospitals for precautionary examinations, but none are in critical condition.
The race will not resume on Saturday evening, and a minute of silence will be held in honor of Miettinen at the resumption of the competition on Sunday at 1:00 PM local time.
The thoughts of the organizers and participants are with the grieving family of the driver.
