FIFA has announced the installation of a new natural grass field at the AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas, which will host new matches as part of the 2026 FIFA World Cup, including a semifinal. During a dedicated event, stadium officials and FIFA representatives detailed the changes made to the venue, which previously used artificial turf for NFL games.
The stadium's general manager, Tod Martin, emphasized the scale of the transformation, which included improvements to fan and club areas. The natural grass, grown in Colorado, was installed by Precision Turf, and its maintenance will be ensured through advanced lighting, irrigation, and temperature control systems.
Ewen Hodge, FIFA's official for playing field infrastructure, mentioned a five-year research project conducted in collaboration with prestigious universities. The AT&T Stadium will be an important destination for thousands of fans during the competition.
