She was set to compete alongside her sister, Venus Williams, at the All England Club, benefiting from a wildcard. Serena suffered an injury in the first round of singles, losing the match against Australian Maya Joint.

In an emotional post, Williams stated that she is saddened by her withdrawal, emphasizing that returning to the court was a gift and that the opportunity to play alongside Venus was extremely important to her.
