Romania won 31-30 against the Czech Republic in a match in which they led by as many as 7 goals at one point. Although the visitors managed to come back and equalize, the winning goal was scored by Demis Grigoras. This was Romania's first official match under George Buricea, the new national men's handball coach. Romania can qualify for the World Championship after a 14-year break. The last time our national team reached the finals was in 2011 in Sweden. Back then, they finished 19th out of 24 teams.
