The Romanian Cycling Federation has announced that Romania will host, for the first time, the European Mountain Bike Championship for youth, between July 22-26, 2026, at Cheile Grădiștei, Brașov County. The event will gather over 750 cyclists aged between 13 and 16 from across Europe, along with 2,000 spectators and officials. The competition will include XCT, XCC, and XCO events. The president of FRC, Cătălin Sprinceană, emphasized the importance of this event for the development of youth cycling and the promotion of Romania. Additionally, Bogdan Constantin Matei and Mihai Covaliu expressed their support for the organization, highlighting the country's sporting potential. The European Cycling Union appreciated the choice of Cheile Grădiștei as the venue, underscoring the organizational excellence and hospitality of the region. Romanian cycling has seen consistent growth, with an increasing number of competitions and licensed athletes.
