Romania will be represented at the Milan-Cortina Winter Paralympic Games (March 6-15, 2026) by two athletes: Mihăiță Papară, who will compete in para snowboarding, and Andrei-Sorin Popa, in para alpine skiing. Their participation has been confirmed by the International Ski and Snowboard Federation through bipartite invitations. The President of the National Paralympic Committee, Carol Eduard Novak, emphasized the importance of this participation, highlighting that it represents a return of winter paralympic sports to the performance agenda.
Mihăiță Papară, the most experienced Romanian athlete in para snowboarding, will compete in the snowboard cross and banked slalom events, having an impressive track record in international competitions. Andrei-Sorin Popa, who suffered a stroke in 2020, has returned to competition and will compete in the slalom event in para alpine skiing. The 2026 edition will mark Romania's fifth participation in the Winter Paralympic Games, bringing diversity through representation in two disciplines.
