Romania defeated Spain at the Ice Hockey World Championship, remaining in the race for promotion.

Romania achieved an important victory against Spain on Saturday morning, in the 3rd round of the Division I/B Ice Hockey World Championship, held in Shenzhen, China. The match started promisingly for the tricolor team, which quickly opened the scoring through Patrik Imre in the 4th minute.

Spain managed to equalize in the first period, thanks to Jaime Capillas, who scored in the 17th minute, during a power play. The key moment of the match was in the second period, when Romania regained the lead through Tamas Reszegh in the 25th minute (power play), followed by Richard Rokaly, who increased the advantage in the 26th minute. Hunor Csaszar brought the score to 4-1 in the 33rd minute, after a well-executed collective action.

In the final period, Romania controlled the game, not allowing any more goals. With this victory, Romania reached first place in the standings, accumulating 7 points, surpassing South Korea and Estonia, which each have 6 points. Romania was relegated last year from Division I/A and aims to return to the second tier of the world ranking.
