The Romanian women's national football team debuted with a victory in Group C5 of the 2027 World Cup qualifiers, defeating the team of the Republic of Moldova 1-0 at the Arcul de Triumf Stadium in Bucharest. The only goal of the match was scored by Ioana Bălăceanu in the 53rd minute. Romania dominated the match, having 13 shots on goal, of which 6 were on target, and 8 corners, but managed to score only once. Coach Massimo Pedrazzini fielded a competitive team, and Romania's next match will be on March 7, away against Cyprus. Regarding qualification for the final tournament in Brazil, UEFA will allocate 11 spots, and teams will be able to access the competition through intercontinental play-off matches.
