Slovenian referee Slavko Vincic, aged 46, announced his retirement from officiating a week after he refereed the World Cup final between Spain and Argentina, which ended 1-0 in favor of the Spaniards after extra time. This final was the pinnacle of his career, which began in 2000 and included a Champions League final in 2024.
A FIFA referee since 2010, Vincic became the first Slovenian to officiate a World Cup final, already having experience in the tournament in Qatar 2022, as well as at Euro 2021 and 2024. His retirement marks the end of a notable international career.
