The rainbow armband, worn by the captains of Premier League teams in 2014, was part of the Stonewall organization's 'Rainbow Shoelaces' campaign. The collaboration has ended and the Premier League will launch an internal campaign in February, during LGBTQ+ History Month, to combat discrimination. The decision comes after controversy over the wearing of the armband, including captain Sam Morsy's refusal on religious grounds and controversial messages on the armband.
