In the Gold Cup final in Houston, Mexico defeated the United States 2-1 to win their tenth Gold Cup title. The USA opened the scoring through Chris Richards, but Mexico quickly equalized through Raul Jimenez. Captain Edson Alvarez scored the decisive goal and was also named tournament MVP. His goal was validated by VAR after a possible offside review.
