Czech player Karolina Muchova, ranked 9th in the WTA rankings, has become the first finalist of the Wimbledon Grand Slam tournament after defeating American Coco Gauff, the world number 7, in the semifinals. The match ended with a score of 6-2, 1-6, 7-6 (12/10), with Muchova managing to save a match point.
This is her first semifinal at Wimbledon, considering that she reached the quarterfinals in 2019 and 2021. Gauff, the US Open champion in 2023 and the Roland Garros champion in 2022, also had her first experience in the semifinals at Wimbledon.
It is worth mentioning that Muchova recently won against Gauff in April in Stuttgart. The second semifinal will be contested between Ukrainian Marta Kostiuk (13 WTA) and Czech Linda Noskova (12 WTA).
